White Badge Working

Last night work was totally dead and so out of the blue I decided to preform a low key ritual. This was inspired in part by two bits from Grant Morrison's The Invisibles. In particular the white badge, and shaping reality so that everyone gets the kind of universe they want, even the enemy (however one might define enemy).

At the Virginia Beach Oceanfront they have these signs posted that look like no smoking signs but instead of a cigarette being slashed out it's the cartoon symbols for curse words. Essentially it refers to a code of conduct that dictates a person's speech, dress, and conduct at the oceanfront. The city even drops off buttons at the hotels for employees to wear so we can inform visitors of the code.

I've always refused to wear one, and fortunately the GM doesn't ask us to wear them, so no one does. We do, or rather did, have a big bag of those buttons, though. I decided I would like to turn one of the buttons into a white badge. The idea of turning a symbol or slogan of oppression into one of liberty is a very fertile concept to me, for instance in The Invisibles one panel reads "Big Brother Is Watching You" and a few panels later "Learn To Become Invisible" has been written under it. I love shit like that.

Anyway, I first blanked out the symbol on the button, then proceeded to destroy all the other buttons in a ritualistic fashion "burning every thing(symbolically) that was useful and powerful, purifying it into raw energy which I then placed into the badge. I then inscribed the badge with a sigil I associate with liberty in every sense. Then I painted over ot all to create the white badge effect.

I then took all the debris, the left over shit, the purest and most extreme expression of conformity and though control, and placed in a bag which I then sealed. I then proceeded to create a binding shell around the bag with an entire roll of scotch tape. By the time I was done it was unrecognizable, the toxic material was contained behind an impenetrable barrier. I then placed a bind rune on the shell and sealed the rune to the shell, symbolically creating a universe where people into that thing can express and experience that sort of censorship and oppression to it's utmost extremes, their heaven, my hell. There they would live in the universe they desired above all else, with out having to inflict those things on people who don't want those things, and safe from people who in their own fascist way want to take that paradise from them for some arbitrary ethical reason.

The whole process took about two hours, after which I enjoyed a bag of popcorn and a Mountain Dew as though it were a gourmet meal.
